February is American Heart Month, and one of the simplest things you can do to save your own is to donate blood. Not only are you likely to benefit, but one pint of blood can save three lives! Blood donations are at tragically low levels in this country. Here in
Donating blood doesn’t take much time. Plus, you may be doing yourself a favor, too. Statistics show that blood donors have a lower risk of heart attack, leading some researchers to theorize that donating blood reduces the amount of iron in the body. That theory is supported by the fact that after menopause, when women no longer lose iron each month, heart attacks become far more common.
